Join Michelle Anne Bangash, Valerie Vargas and Jorge Estevez from Higuayagua Taino of the Caribbean to discuss modern day issues in the Taíno world. This discussion will explore the reconstruction and revitalization of the Taíno language, the role of modern day woman's tribal roles in their yukayeke, as well as the quest for adding the teaching of the Taino perspective of conquest and encounter in the Caribbean. This newer perspective will enrich the audience and produce a more complete teaching of the history of the Americas.
